Stocking fish without permission is an offence from Aug 1st

From the 1st of August 2008, it becomes an offence to stock freshwater fish, incuding salmon, sea trout; fry or eggs into rivers or lochs without the written permission of the District Salmon Fishery Board; or where there is no board (or brown trout are to be stocked), the written permission of the Scottish Ministers via Fisheries Research Services. The new legislation is from Section 35 of the Aquaculture and Fisheries (Scotland) Act 2007 which aims to protect native fish biodiversity.
